Rubble Removal Services in Cape Town — 6 Types of Waste We Collect
Comprehensive rubble removal solutions for residential and commercial projects across Cape Town
We provide complete rubble removal services tailored to your specific needs. Whether it's household clutter or post-renovation chaos, our appliance removal service handles fridges, geysers and e-waste separately, and whether you're a homeowner tackling a DIY project or a contractor managing a large construction site, we have the equipment, expertise, and team to handle any job efficiently and professionally.
Which service do you actually need?
Most people arrive here knowing what they want gone and not which service to book. It comes down to two questions, and neither of them is about what the waste is called.
The first is who does the loading. On a collection our crew carries everything out and lifts it onto the truck, and that labour is already inside the price. With a skip bin dropped at your gate you fill it yourself, at your own pace, and pay less for the same volume because of it.
The second is whether the pile already exists. A finished pile wants a single collection. Waste that is still being made — a bathroom this weekend, a kitchen the next — wants a bin standing on site for the whole job. Get those two right and the rest is just volume.

This is the decision that changes the price most, and it is not really a decision about waste. It is a decision about your weekend.
A skip is the cheaper number for the same volume — a 6 m³ midi-skip is R1,400–R2,000 for a 3–5 day hire, against R2,800–R3,800 for a 6 m³ collection where our crew does the carrying. You are paying less because you are supplying the labour. That trade is worth it on a renovation that runs over days and terrible on a Saturday when nobody is available to fill the bin.
Two things narrow it further. A skip needs somewhere to stand: a driveway is free, a public road or pavement needs a City of Cape Town permit at roughly R200 a week. And the hire period is part of the price — days beyond it run R80–R150 each, which is the most common surprise on a final skip invoice. If the bin is going to sit half-full for a week, a collection usually wins.

You load it — skip hire
Delivery, collection, the disposal charge and VAT are inside each figure.
- 4 m³ mini-skipR900 – R1,400
1–3 days hire · holds about 16 wheelie bins
- 6 m³ midi-skipR1,400 – R2,000
3–5 days hire · holds about 25 wheelie bins
- 12 m³ maxi-skipR2,800 – R3,500
7 days hire · holds about 50 wheelie bins
We load it — collection
Flat-rate by volume. Labour, transport, disposal and VAT are already in the number.
- 1–2 m³R600 – R900
A few bags and one bulky item
- 2–3 m³R1,200 – R1,800
A garage corner or one room cleared
- 4–5 m³R2,000 – R2,800
A double garage or a post-renovation pile
- 6 m³R2,800 – R3,800
A two-bedroom flat emptied
- 12 m³R5,000 – R7,500
A full house or estate clearance
How much waste is that, really?
Cubic metres mean very little when you are standing in front of a heap in the driveway, and almost everybody under-estimates. The most useful yardstick is the wheelie bin you already own: a 4 m³ skip holds about 16 of them, a 6 m³ holds about 25, and a 12 m³ holds about 50.
In collection terms — the same bands used in our 2026 breakdown of rubble removal costs — a small bakkie load of 1–2 m³ is a few bags and one bulky item at R600–R900. A full bakkie of 4–5 m³ — a double garage, a shed, a post-renovation pile — is R2,000–R2,800. A two-bedroom flat emptied is about 6 m³ at R2,800–R3,800, and a full house or estate clearance runs 12 m³ at R5,000–R7,500.
Size to the whole job rather than to today's pile. A mini-skip filled on day two of a week-long strip-out means paying for a second delivery, and a second delivery costs more than the next size up would have. If you are unsure, send a photo of the pile with something familiar beside it — a wheelie bin, a car, a doorway — and we will size it for you before anything is booked.

What goes on the truck — and what doesn't
Between the four services almost everything a Cape Town property produces is covered. The shorter list is the one worth reading before you start piling, because it is cheaper to ask than to have a load turned away at the gate. It also helps to know which pile counts as rubble and which counts as green waste, since the two are tipped at different facilities.
On the truck
- Builders rubble — bricks, concrete, rubble, tiles, plaster and timber offcuts
- Demolition debris, from a single wall to a full structure
- Household furniture, mattresses, boxes and general clutter
- Garden waste — leaves, clippings, prunings, brushwood and sectioned logs
- Branches up to roughly 150 mm thick, which we chip on site
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines, stoves and geysers
- TVs, monitors, computers and printers, routed to an accredited e-waste recycler
- Mixed garden waste and rubble together — we sort the streams on the verge
Not in a standard load
- Asbestos sheeting or lagging — specialist abatement only
- Liquid paints, solvents, pesticides and pool chemicals
- Batteries and high-voltage e-waste, which are a separate regulated stream
- Wet kitchen organics and food waste
- Anything still plumbed in or wired to the grid — disconnect it first
- Tree stumps over 200 mm — a stump grinder job, booked separately from the load
- Bulk soil and gravel — a different category, quoted apart from a rubble load
If something in the pile is not on either list, ask before it goes in rather than after the bin is full. It is a thirty-second phone call against a wasted collection.

Where your waste actually goes
Every load leaves your property sorted. Usable furniture and appliances are offered to local charities, clean recyclables go to the right recycler, and e-waste — televisions, monitors, computers, printers — routes to an accredited handler, because it is a regulated stream that cannot go to general landfill.
What is left is tipped at a facility licensed to receive it. That matters more than it sounds. The City's public drop-off sites across Cape Town are free for residents arriving in a car, trailer or light vehicle up to 1.5 tons, up to three loads a day — genuinely useful if you are moving a small amount yourself. They are not commercial tipping sites, though. A load coming off a removal truck goes to a Council disposal facility — Coastal Park, Bellville South or Vissershok — and is charged at the published tariff.
That tariff is already inside the figure we quote you, along with the labour and the transport, which is why the number does not move after the truck is loaded. You get the tipping receipt afterwards if you want it.
What arrives, and what the price covers
The vehicle is matched to the load when you book, so a one-fridge job does not arrive in an eight-ton truck and a house clearance is not done in four trips.
